Our Services

The Comparative Pathology Laboratory is a full service veterinary reference laboratory directed by the members of the faculty of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Our laboratory is committed to offering the highest quality clinical pathology and histopathology services at competitive prices. For more than 15 years, we have dedicated our lab specifically to meeting the needs of avian, exotic, lab animal, and wildlife veterinarians. Our newly established services include the Acute Phase Protein Laboratory. Since our institution is both academically and research-based, we are able to provide our clients with the most recent diagnostic testing developments which may not yet be available in other veterinary diagnostic testing environments. Our dedication to these services is evidenced by our numerous publications and presentations.

Accreditation

For the past 30 years, the Comparative Pathology Laboratory has provided high quality diagnostic services for a wide range of animal species to clients throughout the U.S., Canada, and Caribbean. To ensure that all testing performed is consistent with the highest standards, our laboratory is staffed by highly trained technicians and is directed by a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.

Professional Consultation

Members of our professional staff are available to answer your questions, discuss test results, provide consultation, and arrange for special studies on unusual cases. Our veterinary pathologists can also call upon the broad expertise of the members of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Furthermore, our staff includes faculty involved in basic research, which not only broadens our proficiency in diagnostics but assists in the service in meeting and understanding your needs in special diagnostic cases.

Client Services

Our Client Service Department is staffed by experienced representatives who are dedicated to providing you with responsive, personal service. Our hours of coverage are from 8am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Our representatives are available to assist you with testing information as well as any inquiries concerning test results and specimen requirements. Billing Services

All clients will receive a monthly statement for services rendered during the previous thirty days. Statements include a detailed itemization of procedures performed for individual clients. Payment is due upon receipt of the statements. To ensure proper crediting to your account, please place your account number on your check. Automatic credit card payments can also be set up. Courier Services

Courier pickups are available in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties Monday through Friday. Contact Client Services for scheduling and phone numbers. Clients outside the tri-county area but within the U.S. are advised to utilize Federal Express or UPS. Our Federal Express number may be used in order to secure cheaper prices. Federal express shipping charges are billed with your submissions monthly and are charged back on the basis of the number of samples submitted per shipment. Test Procedures and Information

Supplies are available through our laboratory including test requisition forms, preprinted FedEx forms, and blood tubes. The amount of supplies is regulated dependent on the client dollar volume with the laboratory. Request supplies form that can be faxed or emailed.

Test Reporting

Laboratory test results are routinely provided to our clients within 24 hours of receipt by our laboratory. Some exceptions are specialized tests performed on a non-daily basis. For a current laboratory testing schedule, please contact Client Services.

Test results can be received automatically by fax or email. Please contact Client Services if you wish to receive your reports via fax.

Becoming a Client

There is no charge to become a client or maintain an account with our laboratory. To sign up and receive an introductory package, contact Client Services by phone or by email. You may get a hardcopy of our” New Client form”:/new-client-forms on this website and email or fax it.

International Clients

The laboratory maintains a USDA import agreement that will assist you in shipping samples to us from international locations. Please contact the lab by phone or by email to receive more information on this program.
