New Paper on E. cuniculi Testing

A new study comparing two methods to detect antibody in rabbits with presumed and confirmed E. cuniculi infection is published in the latest issue of the Journal of Exotic Pet Medicine. This was a multinational study completed at the University of Miami Avian & Wildlife Laboratory and the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria. Importantly, it demonstrated that the ELISA and IFAT methods agree in the detection of IgG antibody in these two labs that have active clinical and research programs for this very problematic infection and disease in pet rabbits.

The various statistical tests showed a good significant agreement between the methods but that they were not equivalent. The sensitivity ranged from 79 to 84% and the specificity was 100% for both assays.

Many thanks to our collaborators!
