Acute Phase Protein Discussion at ESVCP Day at the ECVIM Meeting

A great opportunity to hear about a wealth of information on the latest on acute phase proteins occurred at the European Society of Veterinary Clinical Pathology day at annual congress of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine – Companion Animals. The meeting was held from September 12-14 in Liverpool. The speakers included Dr. Carolyn Cray of the Acute Phase Protein laboratory at the University of Miami who started the session off with a presentation entitled, “Acute Phase Response in Laboratory Animals: Translation to Veterinary and Human Medicine”. Dr. Cray was followed by Dr, Jose Ceron of the University of Murcia in Spain who presented a review of applications of acute phase protein testing on obesity and endocrine testing. Lastly, Dr. David Eckersall of the University of Glasgow presented two excellent reviews of the novel application of proteomics and the use of acute phase proteins in infectious disease testing of cats and dogs.
